Hiring Youth & Family Minister

 YOUTH & FAMILY MINISTER  Job Description

Position Title: Youth & Family Minister

Mission: To bring many to glory by making Christ-like disciples.

Compensation: $40,000 plus; Negotiable

Starting Date: Negotiable

General Qualifications:

1. Able and apt to teach Jesus Christ, i.e. proclaiming the love of Jesus and our relationship to Him as a first priority.
2. Enthusiastic and zealous – energetic and exciting personality while modeling the example of Christ in all walks of life. A sense of humor will be helpful.
3. Able to work well in a multicultural and multigenerational environment with the ability to nurture a spirit of unity throughout the entire congregation.
4. Leadership experience and organizational skills.
5. Ability to work with and relate to young people, i.e. from teenagers up through young adults.
 
General Areas of Responsibility:
1. Develop and implement a ministry of teaching that equips teens / young adults to become and remain Christians and to share their faith with others.
2. Organize our teens’ / young adults Christian training to lead to their service in our church, home, school, and community.
3. Build unity and closeness within the family by involving parents in the activities of our youth. Foster open communication with parents / guardians to become personally acquainted with the lives of the young people.
4. Create an atmosphere that would allow for edifying and counseling our teens / young adults as groups and individually.

Specific Tasks Recommended:
1. Develop and implement a Sunday morning bible class for youth / young adults.
2. Organize regular activities for grades 1-6, junior high, high school groups and young adults, which promote ministry-related goals. Examples:
a. Retreats
b. Devotionals
c. Group Service Projects
d. Camp Experiences
e. Recreational Events
f. Summer Mission Projects
3. Organize activities that will engage and bond the youth together as a group allowing them to know and trust each other and themselves while serving as a catalyst for developing future church leaders.
4. Supervise training programs addressing problems of youth and young adults such as drugs, alcohol, sexual conduct, suicide, peer pressure, etc.
5. Promote the family – spiritually and physically.
a. Minister to teens and young adults and their families by involving their parents (if applicable) in all phases of the ministry.
b. Incorporate our teens’ and young adults’ Christian training into service to our congregation.
6. Serve as a classroom teacher for either the junior and senior high students or the young adults. Arrange for secure teachers for other classes.
7. Develop and implement an annual budget for the Youth Ministry.
8. Function as a part of the church’s ministry team and work closely with the Leadership Committee.
9. Attend and actively participate in the bi-monthly Leadership meetings.
 
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. VBS
2. Ordering literature, supplies and other things as needed.
3. Work closely on education programs for the Youth group.
4. Assist as needed in working with training teachers.
5. Submit monthly written report.
6. Write a weekly article or events report for the church bullet
